Your Recycling Pledge
It’s a small, yet impactful routine. Let’s all get into the rhythm of recycling.
Recycling just one aluminum container saves enough energy to power your TV for three hours. However, the benefits of everyday recycling go far beyond extra hours of television. Teaching our children these lifelong core values can contribute to improving air quality and reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions.
In the U.S., 75% of waste is recyclable, but Americans only recycle around 30%. By partnering with organizations like Keep America Beautiful, we can help inspire others to change their habits to get real results. We’ve re-designed our Dove Body Wash bottles to use 15% less plastic, which could save 27,000 tons of plastic per year. Commitments like this will help us halve our waste footprint by 2020—one of the major goals in our Sustainable Living Plan.
Solving the Problem, Together
It’s the small, everyday actions that can make a big difference for the planet and our children’s futures. Although one day is dedicated to recognizing the significance of recycling—November 15th—it is important to recycle all-year round.
Using a refillable plastic or metal water bottle is a great way to waste less. Single-serve bottled water generates avoidable waste that can contaminate oceans and pollute the air if not properly recycled.
You can also look in your very own bathroom to find opportunities to recycle. Suave® is made with type 2 plastic that can be recycled through many curbside programs. Putting a small recycling bin in your bathroom can make a big difference for our planet.
Let’s all renew our recycling pledge — it’s a small act that can result in big change. Check out Keep America Beautiful for some helpful recycling tips.
